ערבייה ישראלית שמוצאה ממזרח ירושלים, אם לשבעה ילדים המתגוררת בוויסקונסין מאז שנת 1992 הודתה בתכנון פיגוע טרור בהשראת ארגון דאע"ש.
האשה, ווהבה עיסא דאיס בת ה-46, הודתה במסגרת עסקת טיעון עליה חתמה כי ניסתה לגייס פעילים שירעילו מקורות מים ויבצעו פיגועי התאבדות בארה"ב.
דאיס נעצרה בחודש יוני בחשד שהדריכה פעילים המשתייכים לארגון המדינה האסלאמית (דאע"ש) באמצעות האינטרנט. היא הסבירה להם כיצד לבשל רעל קטלני מסוג ריצין ובביתה אותרו ספרים בהם חומרי הסברה על הכנת חגורות נפץ, רעל ופצצות מסוגים שונים.
המעצר בוצע לאחר שדאיס התכתבה עם מודיע משטרתי באחת מהרשתות החברתיות. היא הדריכה אותו כיצד ליצור רעל וביקשה ממנו לשפוך אותו במאגרי מים. על פי הודאתה, היא השתמשה במספר חשבונות ברשתות החברתיות על מנת לתקשר עם הפעילים.
"בפני דאיס עומד עונש של 20 שנות מאסר וקנס של כרבע מיליון דולרים", אמרו גורמי אכיפה בארצות הברית. "גזר הדין שלה צפוי להתקבל בספטמבר".
עורך דינה של דאיס, ג'ון קמפיון אמר לניו יורק טיימס כי הוא מצפה שבית המשפט ידון גם בהיסטוריה האישית המורכבת שלה.
