Twelve Catholic priests were evacuated on Thursday from the Church of the Transfiguration on Mount Tabor when a fire raged for roughly ten hours before it was put out by emergency services. 

The Custody of the Holy Land, which oversees Vatican-owned Christian sites in Israel, said that they had appealed to Israeli authorities for years to be connected to water services on the top of Mount Tabor but were never answered.
