Israeli forces, Monday, carried out a wide-scale search campaign in various villages and towns located to the north of Salfit, blocked roads and declared many areas there closed military zones following the killing of a settler near the Israeli settlement of Ariel, said WAFA correspondence.
A forty-year-old settler from the illegal Israeli settlement of Har Brakha was critically stabbed in his upper extremities at the entrance of the illegal settlement of Ariel. He was transferred to hospital, with critical injuries, where he succumbed to his wounds shortly after.
Israeli media sources said that Israeli soldiers chased after the unidentified perpetrator; however, he managed to flee the scene.
The perpetrator, believed to be a Palestinian, was run over twice by Israeli army vehicles before he fled the scene, said Israeli sources.
In the aftermath of the fatal attack, dozens of Israeli settlers gathered along various roads in Salfit governorate as well as along Yitshar road, south of Nablus, and attacked passing Palestinian cars with stones.
