Israeli police, on Sunday, arrested a Palestinian young man after he allegedly attempted to stab some policemen on Yaffa street, in occupied Jerusalem, according to witnesses.
The police brutally assaulted the young man, who was not yet identified, before taking him into custody. The police claimed the young man had attempted to stab some of them prior to his arrest.
Israeli police were heavily deployed in the area following the alleged stabbing attempt, according to WAFA.
This incident came days after US President Donald Trump decided to undo decades of US foreign policy and recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and revealed plans to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Palestinians observe days of rage in, protest of the decision, which they saw as complete disregard of their rights in the city of Jerusalem and a violation of international laws that oppose any unilateral step in reaching a solution for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the issue of Jerusalem.
An Israeli security guard was severely wounded in a stabbing outside Jerusalem’s central bus station on Jaffa street this afternoon.
The stabber, whose identity is still unknown, has been taken into custody, according to the PNN.
Medics at the scene treated the guard for a stab wound to his upper body, Magen David Adom (MDA), head of Israel’s national medical emergency service, said on Twitter.
